This is the max. Every process has its maximum turn around. For the GMAC, it is 20 days.

Most people have reported scores are released within two weeks.
even 2 weeks is quite a long period when you consider they show the score with in some minutes
and we should not forget if we really want even paper result can reach(or can be sent) to most of the part of the world in 2-5 days with modern courier and other services....so...

Two things you're not considering:

1. A human reviewer must review your essays.

This will delay your official score report. It's rare your overall score will change, you're simply waiting for your AWA score.

But others on this thread have stated that scores must be sent by GMAC (and that scores sent by candidates won't be accepted)... what's the "truth"?

You're confusing topics.

When you submit your application, you self report your score. You do not have the ability to connect your application to your official score release from the GMAC (this is done in the background by the school w/the score files from the GMAC).

If your official score is not received by the school by the deadline, this may take you off the table as a candidate.

There is no "truth". You must contact the schools you are applying to. Some may accept an official score submitted after the deadline, some may not.
