There are lot of variables in scoring & little bit of luck. So, if you focus on accuracy & timing for question difficulty wise.
Easy 90%, Medium 70% & Hard 55% (all within 1.15-1.45 secs) you'll score well.

Stay confident, believe in yourself :)

Hi. that’s a good question to ask.

I can’t help but but noticed that your scores really fluctuate up and down. Do you know why that could be? Is there a reason you feel there such a difference in quant and data insights? I see a verbal is consistently really good but quant and data insights keep jumping up and down. Do you have some gaps or you’re running into questions you’ve already attempted? This could lead to the answer to question...

Fazi
Hello,

I feel lost because I don't really know what I should do hit my target score on the real GMAT (715+)

I took the mock exams and here are my scores:

Mock 1: 585 (Q83, V85, DI69)
Mock 1 - retake: 575 (Q79, V80, DI76)
Mock 1 - retake: 655 (Q84, V84, DI80)
Mock 2: 695 (Q87, V86, DI80)
Mock 3: 665 (Q77, V85, DI87)
Mock 4: 615 (Q82, V85, DI75)

I felt that quant was hard for mock 3 and 4 and I've really done poorly on DI for the mock 4, I felt like I was running against the clock for quant and DI for the last 2 mocks, same for verbal.

I was planning to take the official GMAT really soon but now I am unsure about this, can you please share some tips or some advice that can help me improve my score ?

Hi Fazi,

So, the good news is that you are in a pretty decent spot.

That said, you must continue to find your holes and fix them to improve your score. Topical practice is a great way to do that.

For example, let’s say that you want to practice Number Properties. You can do so by answering 50 or more questions just from Number Properties: LCM, GCF, units digit patterns, divisibility, remainders, etc.

After each problem set, thoroughly analyze your incorrect questions. For example, if you got a remainder question wrong, ask yourself why. Did you make a careless mistake? Did you not properly apply the remainder formula? Was there a concept you did not understand in the question?

By carefully analyzing your mistakes, you will be able to fix your weaknesses efficiently and, in turn, improve your GMAT quant skills. Number Properties is just one example; follow this process for all quant, verbal, and DI topics.

For some more advice, here is a great article you can check out:

Hi,

So I did take the GMAT, and got a 645 (Quant 85, Verbal 81 and DI 79). I was a bit thrown off because I made many mistakes for critical reasoning questions although I thought it was something I mastered. Also, my performance on DI was not good.

I am thinking about taking a private tutor to work on my weak spots to improve my score. Do you think it's a good idea at this stage or should I just keep doing what I am doing now?

Hi GMATLola,

That's a very good score, well done. You could work with a tutor, but (given your high GMAT and practice test scores) you most likely don't need to.

If you'd like to work on your CR, you could consider this CR course.
