Average Speed= Total Distance traveled/Total Time
(1) He drove 10 miles during this interval
Total Time 15 mins. (given)
Total Distance= 10 miles
We have sufficient info with this.

(2) His maximum speed was 50 miles per hour and his minimum speed was 35 miles per hour during this interval.
This would not help as avg. speed does not come simply taking average of speeds.

1) We have total distance & total time, hence we can get Avg. Speed directly
2) As we just know the the maximum & minimum speed but don’t know for how much distance or time it was maintained hence cannot get avg speed
