MBA is not just about getting a cool job, and money (= women, power, whatever else). You gotta think about it holistically. While there are people at b-schools who are just getting their tickets stamped, most of the people I talked with were there for an experience of transition and learning.

Transition includes improving yourself, your family, your job, your world outlook, your network. It also includes helping others improve (before and after MBA).

Learning is also a very wide term, and in case with the MBA degree at a good school, it is just as wide as it gets.

Substituting all of these will take not just one, but many experiences that will have to be equally meaningful and positively impactful both on self and others.

For me, maybe marriage to the girl of my dreams.

oh this is so cute :) I didn't think any romantics apply for MBAs
I thought that MBA people are just overachiever workaholics :)

anyways... if I got an associate position with one of the big 3 consulting companies in their London, UK office I wouldn't go to b-school, because that is what I want to do post-MBA, and if I could get it now there wouldn't be interested in getting an MBA

I guess there's a little bit more to life than an MBA afterall! :P

How many associates are there with the big 3 that don't have MBAs and that didn't start work there as an analyst? I'm also interested in getting into consulting. But between an MBA and starting off as an associate, I'll probably lean towards the MBA as I would like to learn what i can at school before moving into the industry. Maybe it because I realize my undergrad just didn't teach me enough.

If I won the lottery I would actually do the MBA even more. But with an even wider grin on my face 24/7.

someone please say that an MBA gets you a hot chick tooo...

that is why I want an MBa.. MBA = $¥ and pounds = hot women (mostly gold diggers, but who cares)

I would not do an MBA, if I seriously got a job from lonely planet asking me to travel all around the world..

I will say it

I was going to answer that if I got so much money I never needed to work, i could spend my life traveling independently and writing about it, or working with charity organizations, and that I wouldn't need the MBA. But then I thought, suppose I DO become a gazillionaire, get to travel for 10 years, and then decide to set up something in that field? Or suppose I want to get involved with big charity organizations on a higher level, or set something up myself? I'd need that MBA anyway...
