When the government announced a student loan program for undergraduates, it received an enthusiastic response from the both the student and their parent communities. The government claimed that a student loan would allow best choice of college without worrying about exorbitant fee and the student, upon landing a job or after a grace period of 1 year whichever is earlier, may start paying back. The opposition, however, is skeptical that the program will be beneficial for the career of a student, even when he is now better placed to choose a college of his liking and thus has better prospects of landing a job.

Which of the following, if true, best supports the contention of the opposition?

A. Easy availability of loans in undergraduate programs has unnecessarily caused even well-off students to avail loans.
B. Students tend to rush into the very first job they happen to get to pay off their debt.
C. Students erroneously assume that the economic situation when they subscribed to a loan would be the same when they enter the job market.
D. Students, once indebted and in a job, are least motivated to up skill in a job market that remains as competitive as ever.
E. Majority of students who took loans started their families late as they focused on helming higher roles and responsibilities.
Problems like these need to be solved as objectively as possible.

What's the main aim of govt. ?
-student would choose best college according to their liking without worrying about too much fee and student loan

What's the opposition's argument?
-they are skeptical that the career of a student might take a hit

Now to the options,
To support opposition's contention find out which option if true, shows us that the career of the student will take a hit

A- Diverts and addresses a completely different issue

B- This could possibly be the answer but it does not show us that the job rushed in for is bad for the career, it could be beneficial or not. We can't make a decision on the basis of that info.

C-It could be true but this aspect is not addressed or hinted in the question, hence diverts from the point.

D- does exactly what we need (highlighted above), indebted in a job, most probably won't upskill in a competetitive job market !
hints directly at a very high probability poor career after graduation.

E-Diverts from the point, look at what opposition's argument it -> poor career, not family affairs. Focusing on helming higher roles and responsibilities, is good for career not bad (although we can't see if it will prove to be good or bad through the given info in option E).
We need to find what if true would point towards a poor career.

The opposition believes that the student loan program, despite allowing students to choose better colleges, will not benefit their careers.

Option D: Students, once indebted and in a job, are least motivated to up skill in a job market that remains as competitive as ever.

This option directly supports the opposition's contention. It suggests that the burden of student loan debt will deter students from investing in their career development, which is crucial in a competitive job market. This lack of motivation could hinder their career progression and overall success.

The other options either don't directly address the impact on career progression or present issues that are not necessarily detrimental to career advancement.
