Hi,
I recently wrote the GMAT and got a 740. I was okay with the score but not fully satisfied. Since I have some spare time and and got better than that in 4 practices with the GMATPrep software, I was planning on rewriting after 16 days. My scores are 48 quant and ~41 verbal, but quant was <80th percentile while verbal was >95% (a bit murky on the actual numbers, but around that range). My question is - given that I have ~2 weeks, which is the best section to focus on to pick up ~10 points? The verbal score looks lower, but has a higher percentile so I'm not sure which one has a higher return. Stated another way, an increase of 1-2 point in which section would be more likely to yield an extra 10 points on the overall score?
Also to clarify, with the new cancellation policy, once I cancel a score, the school should not even know that I took it right? So if I write once, cancel, then write again, schools should only know that I took once with my second score? Thanks!
Congratulations for an awesome score.
Although I ask people to improve Quant as it is very easy to improve, for your case I will suggest to work on Verbal part. If you improve verbal 1-2 points, you will be at your target score.
You should also check whether the school you are targeting looks Quant percentile as well. I have heard that some of the schools prefer a high Quant score. So, get safe and then give exam.
Yes, cancellation policy works as you have described. I would never suggest you to cancel 740 from your list. Improvement after 740 will show your dedication. And if the new score =<740, you can always cancel your new score.
ALL THE BEST
