Hi ,

I am currently planning to apply for darden and have started with the essays.

I have one query ,

I can write about two experiences in a leadership role :

1. Professional leadership wherein I got to lead a project that had an impact on the environment
2. Personal start-up project that reached the stage of product development but could not go further

I am struggling which one to write about since the personal one moulded me in numerous ways while professional one can be verified.

Any suggestions?

Should I talk about the start-up idea saying that I realized my weaknesses and hence , would like to pursue an MBA so that I can fulfill my long term entrepreneurship goals?

It's tough to say for certain without seeing the actual essays & knowing more about each experience, but you want to avoid turning this into a why Darden essay since that's not the prompt. Also, when you submit your application you are giving them your word that everything in your application is honest & correct; they are not going to do the work of trying to verify it (and if they find out anything was not accurate they will rescind an offer and/or give you a ding from the start).
