(0,5)^1/2 + (0,05)^1/2= (5*1/10)^1/2+(5*1/100)^1/2=((~2,25)*(~1/3))+(2,25*1/10)=0,75+0,225=0,975 which is closer to 0,9
To save time when reasoning such kind of problems that require to extract imprefect roots, it's useful to know approximate values of square roots of at least 1st 10 numbers such as 2=1,4; 3=1,7; 5=2,25; 7=2,64 etc.

√5/10 + √5/100
√1/2 + √1/20
1/1.4 + 1/4.5
0.71 + 0.22
0.93

Apologies for grave digging, but could someone help me out with where I am going wring here. Set it up as follows:

√0.5+√0.05=x
.5+.05=X^2
.55=X^2

X is between .7 (.49) and .8 (.64). Consequently I picked B

Which of the following is closer to √0.5+√0.05?
A. 0.5
B. 0.7
C. 0.9
D. 1.1
E. 1.2

*An answer will be posted in 2 days.

it requires a simplle simple simplification

√0.5+√0.05 = 1/√2 + √5 / 10

=> 0.7 + 0.22 = 0.92

Therefore IMO C
