1/3 + 0.4 + 65% = 0.33... + 0.4 + 0.65 = 1.38

\(1/3 + 0.4 + 65\)%

\(= \frac{1}{3} + 0.4 + \frac{65}{100}\)

\(= 0.33 + 0.40 + 0.65\)

\(= 1.38\)

Thus, answer must be (D) 1.40

65% is VERY CLOSE to 2/3 (2/3 = 0.666666... ≈ 66.66%)

So, we get:
1/3 + 0.4 + 65% ≈ 1/3 + 0.4 + 2/3
≈ 1 + 0.4
≈ 1.4

Is this fine?

0.3+0.4+0.65
=1.35

I chose 1.4 because when we round off the value, we get 1.4 and 1.35 > 1.3 and closer to 1.4.

You should have chosen 1.4 because 1/3 > 0.3, so the actual sum is more than 1.35.
