Which of the following values is the greatest?

a) 11% of 89
b) 22% of 78
c) 33% of 67
d) 44% of 56
e) 55% of 45

Hey guys I was working on the Homework of Veritas Prep Arimethic Book and the solution for question #73 doesn't makes sense:

The book argue the answer is C! That just doesn't makes any sense.

Any comments?

hi,

the best way to solve this question is to keep the percentages same. i.e. 22% of 78 is same as 11% of 156, so lets begin our quest

a) 11% of 89
b) 11% of 156
c) 11% of 201
d) 11% of 224
e) 11% of 225

as we can see option E, has the highest value for 11% , hence the answer must be E.

Are you sure that you checked the answer key correctly? I just signed up for Veritas (haven't started yet, not until March) but I have access to the materials and the answer key I'm looking at says "E."

A) 89*11/100
B) 78*2*11/100
C) 67*3*11/100
D) 56*4*11/100
E) 45*5*11/100
Now, 89 < 78*2 < 67*3 < 56*4 < 45*5
