Hi
Manu03 ..
I cannot authenticate on what context those posts (to keep 660) were written. It depends from case to case. Here is what I think:
Let's say I am targeting the schools with an average 700 gmat score. My score target is 730+ (keeping above the average, demographics, scholarships probability, etc). Target sore has to be realistic (not 800
) which you might be getting in mocks on average. I would definitely cancel the 660 score but will not cancel if I score 700.
CANCEL -
1. If there is a huge difference between target and real score
2. If nerves got you and you are confident to score more in next attempt
3. If you are not sure and will reinstate later after consulting with some experts
DO NOT CANCEL -
1. If you scored the average or just below the avg. of targeted schools (for reference 690-700 for above example). If you are nearby average and running short of time, make other profile areas strong
2. If you have scored less (660 above) but have an exceptional profile, can bring diversity and belong to rare pool countries
I hope it will help
All the best

Hi Everyone,
I really need your opinion, because probably I am getting something wrong.
Many post online (
Manhattan Prep and others...) do not recommend to cancel a decent score (660) even if it is lower than you target score (700+), arguing that you never know what will happen next time and that, knowing that a decent score is there, you will feel less pressure on you.... but I do not get the point.
If I can reinstate my decent score at any time, why can't I just delete it and try again in one month... to see if I can present myself with a clean 700, 1 attempt?
Am I missing something?
Thank you very much to all of you guys,
and good luck with your study!
