I am kind of freaking out after a ding from Harvard and Wharton although I expected it. My GRE is only a 311 (157Q, 154V) and my undergrad GPA was a 2.7 (my sister passed away half way through) from a service academy. I have been rated #2 once in my army officer career and rated #1 out of 25+ other officers for all 4 years following. My recommendations are impeccable. My resume is impeccable. But my gpa and gre suck terribly. I could not improve them. During study my daughter was hospitalized 6 times. My story is somewhat unique. Embassy bombing survivor and genocide survivor. So far below is what I have, do you guys think I have a chance? (All round 2)

Harvard: dinged no interview
Wharton: dinged no interview
Johnson (consortium): Interview complete
Tuck (consortium): interview complete
Darden (consortium): interview complete
Duke (not consortium): interview complete

You know what! With the profile you have, any school that dings you has their head stuck in their knees. It is a clear loss of the school(s). Don't let this get onto you.

Thanks everyone! Hoping to get into at least one of the four I interviewed. Got two dings but still waiting to on a reply from 5 more schools. What’s the normal conversion rate of 4 interviews to admission? If that’s even a stat people follow.

Hi Kiriyama, thanks for reaching out to us at mbaMission. Reading back on your original post, you have a pretty unique profile. I'm glad that the 4 schools you mentioned shortlisted you for interviews because it sounds like your GPA and GRE are not indicative of your abilities. I think your chances are good for those 4 schools and would not at all take dings from Harvard and Wharton as indicators of your chances at other schools. Hopefully at least 2 of the 4 convert. Typical post-interview acceptance odds go up to about 50-60%.
