Hi all,
Wanted to pose a question that's been on my mind...
As we all know by now, after years of declines in volume of applications, schools are now expecting record-breaking applications for the Fall 2021 class. Obviously there are many talented professionals who have recently been laid off from companies like Uber, Airbnb, IBM, etc., many of whom may have considered b-school in the past but pushed it off because of the strong economy.
My question is this: with this influx of talented and potentially "older" applicants, will young applicants suffer the most this upcoming season? I currently have 2 years of pretty solid WE (3 at matriculation); I have been planning for well over a year to apply at this time, knowing that my limited WE would be seen as a negative, but also hoping that schools would be more willing to take a bet on me given the year over year app declines. Now that that's all changed I'm concerned that schools will favor the more experienced applicants who have recently been laid off over myself who could stay at my job a few more years and am wondering if it's even worth it to apply anymore.
This is all very hypothetical of course but I'm interested to hear others' thoughts!
