 I won 7th prize and I m now confused what to do.

how useful it is....

Same here. I am preparing for GMAT and would not be able to make the best use of the package. Would decline it and hope it benefits someone who needs it the most.

Gurpreet: This is entirely up to you. If you have already taken a course of some sort, I'd say decline the prize and wait for better ones. But if not, consider the positive outcomes that you might have by accepting this and weigh them against the risks associated with not getting another prize (which will probably not be the case, but still)

I declined my consulting diagnostic because I want an iPad. But if I get the consulting package, I'd be in a similar fix. On one hand, I don't want to use a consultant but on the other hand, a consulting package might be awesome. No idea.

Good luck with whatever choice you make, man :)

I have just declined the prize, hope this decision doesn't come to haunt me later.....

@ bb -- Could you please consider awarding the GMAT grammar book for all those who have declined prizes and go on to win nothing out of this competition.

See you in class mads!! I just accepted the 8th prize as well. I was due to write my exam next week but haven't broken the 700 barrier in my practice tests yet so figured it was better to take the prize and push my exam out by a couple of months.

Now the BIG question is can I make progress on my apps while I prepare for the GMAT? I really don't want to wait another year so hoping to put all my eggs into the R2 basket!!

you made the right choice! a few points increase due to this course is much much better than an ipad (which is 1/3 of the value of this prize).

Manhattan GMAT Course:

Our mission is to help students achieve their goals by providing the best curriculum and the highest-quality Instructors in the industry.

There are three features that we believe distinguish ManhattanGMAT from other GMAT preparation companies.
  • Instructors
    • All Instructors must have scored a 99th percentile overall on the official GMAT (currently a 760+). They also must have prior teaching experience in order to be considered.
    • All Instructors must undergo a rigorous audition process to be extended an offer – in 2009, we had over 500 applicants for teaching positions. After various initial stages of screening, we flew 99 of them to New York for final auditions at our expense. Out of those 99 final round candidates, we hired just 16, for a yield of 16% of those we saw in-person (approximately 3% of total applicants). After being hired, Instructors then undergo a 100+ hour training process before being allowed to see students.
    • In order to attract and retain the best teachers, we pay $100/hour for all teaching assignments, plus bonuses. This is up to 4 times the industry standard, and the highest in the industry.
  • Content-Based Curriculum
We believe that the best GMAT curriculum should provide students familiarity with the math, grammar, and analytical principles that the GMAT tests. Accordingly, we strive to re-teach students the 8th and 9th grade math tested on the GMAT as well as the grammar and logic that many students may never have studied. Other GMAT test prep programs on the market focus on teachable methods, such as “process of elimination” and "backsolving" techniques. Our GMAT course curriculum is different; it seeks to provide test takers of all levels with content mastery and an organized approach that builds skills for every question type on the exam, including the most advanced content that many other prep companies ignore.
  • Focus
Our dedicated team specializes in the GMAT. This means that our time, energy, and resources are spent developing strategies for the GMAT's unique content rather than for the generic standardized exam. This targeted focus ensures that ManhattanGMAT offers the most current and effective GMAT course available.

I tried contacting Veritas to know more details about the diagnostic package. Instead I got reply with the details of other packages.

:-D I will decide after looking at the details of the package. I m more inclined towards declining this, but I want to give last chance to know more about the prize.

if anyone else has more details pls let me know- Bb do you have?

Actually it is around 9 or 10 am pacific, but I say midnight for official rules - so you are safe. You have around 20-22 hrs to make a decision/pull the trigger.
