Any thoughts on this

a trend ultimately placing... is not the best in its usage

If I remove the adverb ultimately
- a trend placing - is it not awkward? I would definitely prefer a trend that places

My choice is D.
Waiting for OA.

Women are expected to be the majority of students entering law school this fall, a trend ultimately placing more women in leadership positions in politics and business.

a) Women are expected to be the majority of students entering law school this fall, a trend ultimately placing
Modifying error
b) The majority of students entering law school this fall are expected to be women, a trend that will ultimately place
I selected it as last 2 options, but I guess we can't join two independent sentences with comma.
c) The majority of students entering law school this fall are expected to be women, which will ultimately place
which refers to women
d) It is expected that the majority of students entering law school this fall will be women, a trend ultimately placing
Selected as last 2. Here "it" refers to "a trend", describing future expectancy with future tense
e) It is expected for women to be the majority of students entering law school this fall, which will ultimately place
Pronoun reference error

I choose D.

What is OA?

Is Majority singular or plural?

A majority of Student are... - Majority = Plural

A Student majority is... - Majority = singular

So, depending on the context.

I think B is wrong, because majority should be singular.

My answer is D.

e) It is expected for women to be the majority of students entering law school this fall, which will ultimately place

Please explain your answer

B. it is future prediction so "a trend ultimately placing" tells us that it is happening and this wrong because it has not been happening but will be happening. "a trend that will ultimately place" corroborots with the future prediction.
So B makes sense not A, and D. C and E has "which" that has no clear referant.

My answer is D.

in this case, "the majority" is plural

Ex.:
The majority of the students in this class ARE hard workers.

The student majority IS opposed to the death penalty.

Please explain your answer

Go with B..has its future tense "a trend that will" compared to "a trend ultimately placing"

I choose D.

What is OA?

Is Majority singular or plural?

A majority of Student are... - Majority = Plural

A Student majority is... - Majority = singular

So, depending on the context.

When we use 'of' it has a great influence on the verb usage. The above example is not relevant because they are in two different patterns, please consider the following example

The majority of the students ....

The majority of the class .....

One of the above is Singular and the other is plural

e) It is expected for women to be the majority of students entering law school this fall, which will ultimately place

If you couldn't remember if majority was singular or plural, you could also eliminate on other choices.

A, B & D have a misplaced modifier...'a trend ultimaely placing...doesn't refer to fall (or women)'
E is wordy and also what is It referring to?

Answer is therefore C.
