Dont get me wrong... If all other parts of your application are good, the GMAT CAN play a part in scholarship considerations and IB jobs probably have an unofficial cut-off at 720.. So there is your motivation to score well... I'm just sayin that if the other parts of the application are not good, even a 770 GMAT cannot do much to help...

Even coming out of business school looking for Associate positions I have been told that bulge bracket banks and the MBB recruiting firms want to see your GMAT score on your resume.

I've heard of a potential 700 cutoff (even that I'm not sure I believe 100%), but never a 720.

If you've jumped through all the networking hoops and played the game correctly, a few points on your GMAT isn't going to be a deciding factor.
