I highly recommend Brian Prestia. Here’s why…
To give you a quick summary I improved a total of 60-70 points: in Quant 7 points (from 40 to 47) and in Verbal 6 points (34 to 40). My background is in Accounting and Finance so I thought* I would do well in Quant. That was not the case as I struggled to improve my GMAT quant skills.
I worked with Brian on mostly Quant over 5 sessions. I did 2 session of Verbal with Brian. By the time I started working with Brian, I had taken the GMAT once and booked 2.5 months of study time (mostly MGMAT). Brian first spent time learning about my strengths and weaknesses and guided me through developing a strategy that would work for me. Over our 5 sessions, I covered almost many of the different Quant question types, focusing more on the problem areas of course. The most important thing Brian taught me was to approach the quant section with logic and problem solving instead of using purely Algebra or mathematics. This may seem like a simple thing to do but it took a while to get use to this. Brian also helped me develop strategies for each question that cater to my strengths and go around my weakness. Brian shared his knowledge of the different question types and taught me how to think from the perspective of the test makers. After studying with Brian, I was able to develop a clear strategy for guessing, time management, multiple choice and data sufficiency problems. And on a deeper level for each type of question, for example how to approach a Data sufficiency Geometry question or numbers property question.
After meeting Brian and learning from him, I felt like I had wasted a lot of time learning everything, when I should have been focusing on developing strategies that cater to my strengths and practicing problem solving, not solving algebra and math problems.
For Verbal I only did two sessions, but I think Brian’s approach to Reading Comprehension and Sentence Correction really improved my score. He taught me how to use logic and reasoning to answer the questions and to focus on the why in the RC and to use reasoning for SC. I must have missed that in the MGMT guides. I’m sure I could’ve improved more on Verbal if I spent more time with Brian.
Brian was real with me and gave me the confidence and the tools to tackle the GMAT. He helped me develop a customized approach and was patient with me as I began to see and understand that test as he does. There is no doubt that Brian is a GMAT master. He is also a very calm and kind human being.
Having said all this, you still need to put in a lot of time and effort to get the score you want.

I went with a personal tutor over a class because I knew I had specific strengths and weaknesses, and a class would be less helpful for me than a tutor in targeting those weaknesses. David was an overall great tutor. He was patient and friendly, and he took the time in the beginning to understand me, my background, and my goals for the GMAT and beyond. He was quick to then move right into carefully selected practice problems that targeted my key weaknesses (mainly Math). These problems were challenging, but David was right there to guide me through a problem or provide a much needed hint. The overall process (as suggested by David) was a combination of practice problems with David, practice at home with the official GMAT guide, and two practice exams made up of real retired GMAT questions. This process allowed me to quickly and efficiently improve my scores and my comfort with the GMAT. After only 3 weeks and 12 total hours with David, I went from barely cracking open a GMAT book to achieving a score that was even better than what I had originally hoped for. Thanks David!

I am a non native speaker and I really struggling in Verbal. After a 10 hours course with Chris, I could change the way I think about the CR and RC question. With in a period of 3 months I could see a better score in the Mock Test and finally a 20 points push in my over GMAT Score. Chris is really supportive and he would have spend 12-13 hrs for the 10hrs course and was always behind me when ever I needed his support. He is patient and he provides the honest and right feedback so that you can actually work on your weakness and improve on it. The classes were on Skype and he was flexible enough to accommodate my timings and questions. I would definitely recommend him.

I recently completed a private tutoring package with Laura Cook and would highly recommend her to anyone looking to improve their score in a short amount of time, and particularly to those who are looking to score in the 700+ range. Laura was very accommodating of my busy work schedule and was often able to meet over Skype on short notice. She also had a number of strategies and resources to help get me above the 700 threshold that I would not have been exposed to via a class or self-studying. On top of all that, Laura was very nice and easy person to work with so I would absolutely recommend her to anyone that is thinking about using Veritas for private tutoring. threshold that I would not have been exposed to via a class or self-studying. I worked with David for about two months; he was extremely helpful throughout my GMAT process and acted not only as my private tutor, but also as an invaluable support system. The GMAT is a mental game of sorts in which you may often find yourself questioning your abilities and progression. David always gave me more confidence and genuinely cared about my success, a trait that many tutors don’t have. David also provided me with multiple resources to help me attack my weaknesses and was extremely flexible with his schedule.

If you are in the market for private tutoring with someone who will guide and support you throughout your GMAT journey, look no further than David Newland.

I highly, highly recommend Devin Jones as a tutor!
I had taken a Veritas Prep course a few years back when I first thought about taking the GMAT. I wasn't serious about my prep at the time, but it demonstrated to me that Veritas was a solid prep company and that their instructors were top notch. I fully committed to taking the GMAT this fall, and after scoring 650 on a practice test I decided to get a tutor to help increase my score.

From my first session with Devin, I knew he was going to help me crush the GMAT. It was obvious that he was incredibly smart, and he genuinely cared about me achieving the results I wanted. We had a TON of sessions, but he helped me to identify my problem areas and made sure I had great material to work with throughout the process. He even ordered new books for me when we ran out of material, and hand picked problems to make sure I was covering what I needed. I even had fun during the sessions because Devin is a cool guy too! We had some good laughs throughout. The structured study plan he provided helped me to stay motivated and improve steadily across all the subject areas. I was pretty strong in verbal going in, but to my surprise I improved a lot in verbal AND quant thanks to Devin.

On my first test day, I got in my head and wasted way too much time early on. I scored 670, but coming out of it I wasn't nearly as dismayed as I would have been. Working with Devin gave me the confidence to know I could do better. I shook it off and took the test two weeks later. I scored a 720! Overall, I increased my quant score by 5 points and verbal by 3. I couldn't have been happier. If you want to do well on the GMAT, then Devin Jones is definitely your guy!

I HIGHLY recommend Devin Jones as a GMAT tutor. The below is my GMAT story and how Devin helped me beat the GMAT.

Quick Summary:
- I improved my GMAT score from a 590 (first actual test) to a 690
- If I take into account my first practice test, I improved my score from a 540 to a 690
- I had a Mathematics minor from Carnegie Mellon University, so I was fairly strong in Quant to begin with, but I improved my Verbal score from a 28 to a 38

My Story:
I have been studying for the GMAT on and off for the past two years. I took a Manhattan GMAT course 2 years ago and did not score as well on the test as I would have liked (score: 590). I was also not very impressed by the Manhattan GMAT course and I didn’t feel like the instructor was particularly helpful nor was he passionate about truly helping students conquer the test.

I took a year off from the GMAT due to frustration and feelings of failure. I started studying for the GMAT again this past September. My friend who also struggled with the GMAT recommended I try out Veritas Prep. She had a private tutor and she said that it made all the difference in the world. Looking back, I could not agree with her more!

I signed up for a 20-hour Private Tutor package with Veritas Prep. From my very first tutoring session, I knew that my tutor, Devin Jones, would help me beat the GMAT. Devin was always willing to meet around my schedule. He was never late and he always stayed past the scheduled duration of the tutoring session. Devin helped me improve both my Quant and Verbal score by creating a strategy/study plan that addressed both my strengths and weaknesses.

Beyond just providing tutoring for the content of that GMAT, Devin was my support and backbone throughout the 4-month process. He kept my emotions at bay and he helped me mentally prepare. He was even willing to walk me to my test center for my first scheduled test because he knew I was nervous. It’s the little things like that that really make all the difference in the world, especially for a stressful test like the GMAT.

Although I did not do as well as I would have liked on my test (score 640), Devin stuck with me and continued to help me prepare and tackle my weaknesses. He provided a continuous flow of study materials and created homework assignments for me each week, once again focusing on a strategy/study plan that addressed both my strengths and weaknesses. The structure of his assignments really helped me get through the weeks. I took the test two more times and unfortunately still did not do as well as I would have hoped (610; 630). However, Devin’s unwavering confidence in my ability to achieve my goal of a 680+ kept me going.

Finally, on my last attempt, I scored a 690!!!!! I was beyond ecstatic and I definitely could not have done it without Devin by my side every step of the way. Devin was the first person I reached out to after leaving the testing center and he was so happy for me. I could not have asked for a better tutor, helping me to improve my score 100 points! Devin is a truly amazing tutor and is incredibly passionate about helping others to success. I consider myself very lucky to have had Devin as my GMAT tutor.

I studied for the GMAT on my own for about a year before taking it the first time. I didn't do as well as I had hoped so I signed up for private tutoring through Veritas. I was assigned Samhita Noone and we worked together virtually as I was in New York and she was in Atlanta. We met once or twice a week, every week for over three months. My verbal scores didn't need much work so we focused on the quant material. She suggested I do every math problem in the Veritas Books, which I thought was impossible, but ended up doing. Not only did we review material but most importantly, Samhita helped me with the "mental prep" part of GMAT studying. We discussed everything from test anxiety to create routines when I would take my practice tests. It was amazingly helpful to talk things out and I went into my second test feeling way better than I did the first time. My goal was to break 700 (all my practice tests had been in the 600-650 range) and with Samhita's help, I got a 710. I can't thank her enough for being a constant partner, coach and tutor throughout this process.

Brendan was a fantastic tutor during my GMAT preparation. He planned our sessions tailored towards my weaknesses and explained it in a simple way without sacrificing the quality of the material. Also, Brendan always shared strategies and tips for the test that helped me improve my score and timing. Even after our sessions were over, Brendan was personally invested in my success by checking regularly on my progress during the practice tests. Brendan was a key factor in my preparation and 90 point improvement on my overall GMAT score.
I would recommend Brendan as a tutor especially if you are considering Veritas Prep!

I consider myself very lucky to have had Brandon as my GMAT tutor. Brandon combines an extremely practical way of approaching the GMAT with a winning attitude. One of the most helpful things Brandond did with me was walk me through an entire GMAT test and show me how he would approach the problem. It was an education that no book, online course, and very few tutors could replicate. It was extremely liberating to know that there were simple logical ways of solving even the most difficult problems.

Brandon's attitude was one of unwavering confidence in my abilities to get a phenomenal score. Even when I would hit a plateau and not seem to be progressing Brandon would encourage and keep me going. He had a winning attitude the entire time and that attitude was just as valuable--perhaps more valuable--than the problem solving skills he taught me.

Brandon was also willing to meet me at extremely odd times based on my schedule. When he was in a different time zone he would wake up a 5 or 6am on a Sunday to tutor me for three hours.

I truly cannot imagine a better tutor.
