Post MBA WORK RELATED QUERY

Question

Hi

I have a very specific doubt regarding the post mba scenario in USA.

As I know, after MBA 12 months of OPT is given.

Since we would have spent a lot on financing mba by then, What visa prospects are there after that given that I am recruited from top 20 Business Schools in a teir 1 company..?

I have not heard people coming back soon after MBA.

Also, I am looking to answer which details in prospects of candidates who fail to get H1B status.

Hi Harsh,

After expiry of your 1 year OPT or rather even before that you will have to apply for H1B visa if you wish to continue working in the US. If your friends aren't applying for H1B and are still working in the US, maybe they went to pursue a STEM degree. A STEM certified degree helps you to extend your 1 year OPT to up to 3 years. Hi folks !

I have a question.

I got an admit from ISB and the program begins in April but I am waiting for results from Tepper and Kellogg.

Since I wanted to spend some time with the family , I resigned in Februray to stay with family for around 1.5 month.

At the same time , if I get a positive result from either tepper or Kellogg , I might be jobless for next four months. Will this affect my application or post MBA prospects ?

Hey,

Congrats on your ISB admit. I guess there is no question there but you're stuck on a situation where you have to start your ISB MBA (you may have even given the deposit) without knowing your application decision. You can email adcom to expedite your application explaining your situation sometimes they are accommodating.

Inferring on what you have written above, you have already applied to Tepper & Kellogg so, in this case, how will your leaving the job affect your candidacy? As you must have written in your resume at that time that you were working. I hope it is clear. If you're asked this in an interview you can always say that you have recently resigned as you've got an admit from ISB.

As for your Post-MBA prospects, no it won't affect at all.

Don't have much to add, except that the H-1B application process has become increasingly competitive. This is the first year they implemented an online registration step, which (and someone please correct me if I am wrong) will drive up the number of applicants going forward.
