Hello,
I gave my gmat exam few days back and scored a 660.
But i had given my final gmat prep mock and had scored a 760 in that.
So in the final months my scores were
mock1 -640
mock 2 - 710
mock 3- 690
after this there was a death in my family for which i took a 10 day break.
on returning
mock 4- 660
mock 5-720
mock 6-760.
But on the actual day, i performed almost similar in quant and got a score of 48 , but failed miserably in english and scored 33.
What should i do next? i have dowloaded the esr but such abnormal score deop has left me confused.
Please help.

It's confusing to score so much lower on the real GMAT than you did on your practice tests. However, as sure as day follows night, you'll be able to sort out what occurred, address it, and achieve your score goal. So, let's start that process here.
It's quite common for a test-taker to score considerably lower on the real GMAT than she or he had scored on practice tests, and this phenomenon occurs for various reasons.
One thing that could have occurred is that, on test day, you simply had an off performance similar to your performance on the test you took after your break from preparing on which you scored 660. In that case, it would be likekly that, if you were to simply sign of for a second GMAT 16 days after this recent one, you would score closer to the upper range of your practice test scores and achieve your score goal.
On the other hand, it could be that the GMAT revealed gaps in your knowledge or skillset that the practice tests didn't reveal, and there are various possible things that could be going on.
For example, one of the most common reasons why people's verbal scores on the real GMAT are lower than their scores on practice tests is that their verbal preparation somehow prepared them for practice tests they took rather than for the GMAT itself. I'm sure you're wondering how you could prepare for one without preparing for the other, and one answer is that much of what's said both in informal discussions of GMAT verbal and in GMAT prep courses is based on what appears on the official practice tests. So, it's common for people to learn these things that apply to the verbal section of official practice tests and score high on those tests but not as high on the real GMAT, which can do things in verbal questions that the practice tests don't.

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day didn't go as well as planned. A 660/Q48 is still a solid Score though - and it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. Before we discuss any of those potential issues though, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:
Studies:
1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). Since you purchased the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you. If you'd rather not post it publicly, then you can feel free to PM or email it directly to me.
