I would say stick to the word limit. It is very hard to get a point (or two) across in just 250 words but they want you to cut the fluff and be very direct.

For essay 3, if it creatively describes you then go for it, otherwise stick to the standard essay format. At the info session, the adcom representative mentioned that they do receive a lot of regular essays.

Hey all,

I am sure everyone is anxiously waiting for your decisions. I am a little late to join in... They are still accepting apps and I am going to apply before the end of this week.

I have a couple of questions:

1. Did u guyz strictly follow the 250 word limit? I have serious issues on this front. Both my essays are bordering on 500 words.

2. Did any one try anything fancy with essay 3? I have an idea but I dont know whether I should play safe. I am a little confused. What do you think about trying something very different?

Profile:
GMAT - 730 (q51 v38)
2 years experience, IT.
Undergrad GPA - 86%; Grad GPA - 3.2 from a competitive school.
Decent extra curricular activities.
Company sponsorship - 100%

At last...

I completed my app and sent all the supplementary documents today. I hope I dont have to go through this process ever again. It's time to get some sleep.

Good Luck everyone. I hope to see myself and wish to see you all there in the class room :)

PS : I also applied for westchester. I changed my mind in the last minute. I heard feedback from students that the westchester classes are equally good and the folks equally competitive.

Considering the proximity of it from both home and office, I decided to go for the westchester option.

Someone had asked a question in this thread about fordham and how it ranks. I was reading the fall 2007 thread, and found that fordham was ranked 9 (think it was a business week or msnbc ranking) among all part-time courses in the US.

The important question really to consider is the strengths of a school and how it matches up against what you want - and then go with it. That being said, Stern Langone is still without a doubt - # 1 among the PT courses.

Thanks Sixthsense. It was me who asked that question.I also had a look at the link earlier which you just send.

I have one more question.How can we send more recommendations to NYU (which can make our application stronger)? Do you think we need to ask the recommender to send it directly (as the online stuff is not in our control now).I recently got in touch with one of the visiting professors at NYU and the professor is willing to give a recommendation to me.

Please give me your feedback.

I found that recommenders can directly email stern. The email addresses for communication should be in the receipt email that you must have received after submitting your application. Once the recommender sends the email, in a few days you should see an update on the applicant status check website under your profile. Hope this helps. Good luck!

That sounds logical to me.Thanks Sixthsense.But actually it is a bit dicey to ask him to email up. Anyway I'll try my best to make sure he does send the recommendation.

Got an email today informing of status update. Logged on to the status web site and saw that I am IN...Whoo..hooo....!!

Applied on 14th Sep, stats posted before. BTW I had applied only for weekend option at Wash Sq.
