If the farmer cleaned 240 sq meters in 14 hours
Let's consider farmer's rate on 2nd day = x Sqm/h, then his rate on first day will be = x+8 sqm/h
Now let's consider he cleaned a sq meter on 1st day and b sqm on 2nd day.
Given = > a+b= 240 sq meter
Time taken on 1st day = a/(x+8) hours and on 2nd day = b/x hours
Given a/(x+8)+b/x = 14 hours ---> ax+b(x+8) = 14 x(x+8) ...........> replace a=240-b
240x-bx+bx+8b=14x^2+112x ---> 14x^2 - 128x -8b = 0 ---> 4b = (7x^2 -64x )
On trying x =9, 14 & 19 -----> 4b = 7 *81 - 64*9 = 9*(63-64) --negative not possible
x = 14 ---> 4b = 14 (14*7- 64) = 14(98-64) = 14 * 24 ---> b= 14*6 Possible
x=19 -----> 4b = 19(7*19- 64) = 19(133-64) = 19(69)
Approx b = 20*70 /4 = 350 > 240 SQm given not possible
possible .. Hence, B is the answer

(r+8)*t + r(14-t) = 240
rt + 8t + 14r - rt = 240
8t + 14r = 240
4t + 7r = 120
t = (120 - 7r)/4 = 30 - 7r/4
Checking options:
If r=9, t=30-15.75=14.25 -> impossible as total time is 14
If r=14, t=30-24.5=5.5 -> possible
If r=19, t=30-33.25=-3.25 -> impossible as time must be positive or zero
The answer is B
