Hi Fellows!
I hope everyone is doing well. I just want to share my experience . I would appreciate your guidance so that i can improve my score.
I started my prep in November 2015. I spent most of the time on quant. I started preparation for verbal from mid dec.
During half of my preparation time , I was also doing internship.
Material Used:MANHATTAN COMPLETE SERIES 5TH EDITION (1-9 books). [ Sentence correction book was 6th edition]

GMATPREP software question bank.
CAT TEST RESULTS:MGMAT : 540 ( Q36 V29 ) ( I took it just to test my quant. I wasnt prepared for verbal)
MGMAT: 520 (Q41 V20)
MGMAT: 550 (Q42 v21)
GMATPREP: 550 ( Q42 V24 ) IR 4

GMATPREP: 540 ( Q47 V19) IR 5
MGMAT: 610 ( Q45 V30) IR 4

While studying
MANHATTAN books , I didnt make any cliff notes. I highlighted all the important stuff . I have hard-copy of manhattan series.
I didnt use any online material from this forum or any other website. I just wasn't aware. I believe it was a mistake.
For Sentence correction. I developed an
error log- containing type of errors etc. I did develop a list of redundant words.
10 days BEFORE THE EXAM DATE:GMAT exam date: 26th Jan
My activities:
16th Jan :
MGMAT CAT
17th Jan : A job test ( 2.5hrs duration)
18th Jan : University's convocation
22nd Jan :
MGMAT CAT
23rd Jan : I bought a question pack from gmat's website (404 questions ) . I solved 100s of SC and CR and quant questions. I wasn't feeling well mentally. I felt that my mind is exhausted . I was not worried , i thought ill be able to recover before 26th
24th Jan : I revised all the highlighted stuff from my manhattan quant books.
25th Jan : I solved some IR questions. I also covered some quant and SC questions that i answered wrong previously. I was not able to relax myself. I felt I have lost focus. One thing is for sure that i was not feeling as good as i was on 22nd jan (that is the day i took last
mgmat). Nevertheless I tried to calm myself down. I had some good 7 hrs sleep.
26th Jan : Exam day.
Exam Experience: AWA was smooth. I was able to type around 320-350 words.
I felt IR was very difficult and confusing. I had issue with time in IR as well. After IR I took the break and mentally I was not feeling well. I told myself that i have to calm down and forget about IR. I ate some nuts and chocolate during the break. I went back into the exam room and the staff told me that I'm 14 sec late. I freaked out a little bit.
I started the Quant section. I had trouble with few questions in the beginning. But Except 3-4 questions in the first 12 Q's , I was able to solve every question smoothly. I finished quant with 2 min to spare. I had some mixed feelings after the quant. I felt that i might have scored in between 45-48.
Again in the break I had some snack. I was trying to stay confident and I was thinking if i score 35+ on verbal i'll be able to cross 650 mark.
I went back into the exam room and thank God i was on time. The verbal section was like a roller coaster ride. I guess i did awful on RC sections. My performance over rest of the questions related to CR and SC was average. I finished the verbal section with 30 sec to spare.
After the test I felt ill hovering around 620. Well, my guess was wrong and i struck rock-bottom with 510. I cancelled my score. I'm feeling quite depressed. My aim was 680+ and I wanted to apply for Brown university's Prime masters program. The deadline was 1st feb. I guess I messed it up big time with respect to planning and probably preparation as well.
I'm planning a retake. I guess i have to improve in every department of gmat. Im looking for suggestions that could help me attain a high gmat score.
I look forward to hearing from you guys.
Thanks for your patience
Regards
Hamza
