Hello,
Today I took the real GMAT for the first time and scored 470.
my previous scores on practice official GMATpreps CAT
450
480
550
580
Paper test
550
610
640
650
I studied for two moths hopping to get a least a 690.
My application is really strong, I have 6 years of solid military leadership experience, 3.8 GPA from a top 25 undergrad business school, outstanding essay and letters of recommendation,
co-founder of a printing and livery company, member of 3 community services programs. I am also in the process of launching "Latinos Unidos Scholarship, an organization to raise funds to help latino students of Boston pay for college.
In terms of making my application stronger, I don't know what else I can do.
I was hopping to apply in January 2014, but after receiving this low score on my GMAT, I am not sure anymore. Even though my application is strong, I afraid the admissions directors will be turned off by my GMAT score.
I honestly don't believe in the GMAT, I graduated in the top 10% of my class, and I never took the SAT's. After high school I joined the military, and went back to school after I got out of the Army. I went to community college first, then transferred to a 4 year program. My grades were much better than kids who had scored 2200 on their SATs. If I had taken the SATs my scores would have been very low as well. Most of the time I found myself having to tutor these kids on calculus, finance, and accounting. Therefore I don't believe the GMAT is a good indicator of how well I can perform at a top MBA program.
Should I still apply of forget it?
