590 on GMAT.Need to know if i can apply to these Uni's.

Hi All, Although i did not actively take part in the Gmatclub forums/blogs i would regularly stop by for practice and tips.Firstly i would like to thank the club team and its members for the amazing resource.it was of great help.

I have been prepping for gmat since april 2013 and i took it today finally.I had 700 on mind but could barely touch 600.I am not planning on retaking because i want to apply next year and i am aware that i wont be able to significantly increase my score in such short duration.However,i am applying to these uni's stated below and here's my brief introduction IT indian female 3.3 GPA 3.5 years of experience in Software industry 590 GMAT(39q,31v) And the schools i am planning to apply to are - Madison school of business-Wisconsin Penn state-Smeal Kelley school of business -Indiana Fisher college of busines -Ohio Now all these schools avg gmat intake is around 670.Is it advisable i go ahead applying to them.I really need expert opinion.Any help is appreciated. Hi Alisha,

Your GMAT score is indeed low for the b-schools on your target list. Its not that b-schools don't admit people with scores lower than the class average, but as you belong to the Indian applicant community, you face certain disadvantages. Indians tend to score well on GMAT in any case, and as so many apply, there is no dearth for the admissions teams to select the best ones. In this scenario, you are likely to lose out to other Indian applicants.

If you were scoring around 700 in the mocks, then I would urge you to retake the GMAT. If that is just not a possibility, then you should alter your b-school list.

590 is a very low score compared to the average GMAT intake of your target schools. For your profile [Indian/IT] it is certainly difficult to make it to these schools. You have decent GPA which could help you if you get a GMAT score of 650+ or preferably 700+.

You have not mentioned anything about your work experience besides your industry. The schools may look positively at your application if you have had fast paced growth in the firm, or have been in leadership positions.

GMAT is only a part of the application. There are other factors like work experience and extracurricular activities that are of high importance as well. Do mention about these to help us comment on your chances better.

You appear to be in a rush to apply. Slow down. Get your MBA from a top school. Brand matters a lot for MBA. I don’t think it will be very difficult to get into one of the above schools with your score. If I were you I would focus all my efforts and rewrite GMAT, and aim for better schools.

Hi all,

I am expecting a GMAT score of around 630. can anyone suggest some universities in canada and us where i can apply and chances of getting through are high??

I know 590 is just too low to get into a b-school, but what about 630?? will i get top 50 US schools??
