Hello!
This is my first post on this site so please bear with me.
I plan on applying to Owen in the first round for the Marketing Concentration and Brand Management Specialization. I took the GMAT last fall and got a disappointing 640. However, I have an undergrad GPA of 3.95 with three bachelor's (PR, Spanish and International Studies) and will have had 5 years of professional experience by the time the program begins.
I had not firmly decided on business school until recently and so did not retake my test since I took it last fall. I won't be able to retake it before the deadline for Round 2, but could put on my application that I have a new date set. Will they put off my application while this test score is pending? Is it really worth retaking with my high GPA and experience? The median for Owen (according to their website) for the class of 2020 is 680 with the Middle 80% of 630-730.
I also considered signing up for MBA Math or an equivalent program to show that I am being proactive to ramp up my Quant skills since I don't have a strong background in this area. Do these courses really help on an application?

First off, a 640 is a solid score (it's just a bit shy of the 75th percentile overall), so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. That having been said, a Q41 will not 'impress' anyone. As such, a retest may or may not be necessary. You're ultimately asking Admissions questions though, so you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

Hi I believe you have a very good GPA and should definitely prepare some more for the GMAT and give it another chance you can probably aim for a much better college if you score somewhere in the 700 score mark
