I sat for my GMAT yesterday and was surprised to see a score of 640 with a Q46 and V33. This is the highest score that I have received to date in any of the mock/real exams. I took my last mock test a couple of days before the exam and only scored 620 with a Q42 and V33. I chose the Q,V, IR & AWA structure for the latest attempt.
I have been preparing for the GMAT since last year. The following were my official scores for all three attempts:
1. Sep-16 Total- 470 Q32 V22
2. Nov-16 Total- 530 Q36 V27
3. Jul-17 Total - 640 Q46 V33
Test Day Experience: July 17th, 2017
I took the test in the morning at 8.30. I was pretty chilled out the day before. Watched Game of Thrones and went to bed around 10.00 and got a good 8 hrs of sleep. Worked out before the exam. It took me a couple of questions to get started on Quant. I think i exhausted about 6 minutes on the first two quant questions. In hindsight, I should have completed some warmup questions before the exam to awaken the math neurons in my brain. In The verbal section, I found that SC was way harder than anything I had ever seen in OG or previous tests. Last few questions on Verbal were a guess as I was almost out of time.
Next Steps:
I plan to give it another shot in mid September in the hopes of scoring a 700. Is it possible to improve from a V33 to V39 or a V40 in the next 50 days?? I think if I can get to a V39 and keep my Quant score at bay I can touch the 700 mark.. To give you some background about myself. I am a non-native English speaker. Completed my B.Comm in Finance from a sub par university in Canada. I am currently working as Sr. Financial Analyst at one of the Big 3 Automakers. I am able to put in 2-3 hrs on weekdays and 14-15 hrs on the weekends for the next few weeks.
Materials used so far:
1. Manhattan Quant Books (Finished all the Quant guides except Geometry and also completed the Foundations of GMAT Math)
2. Empower GMAT quant - (OG question explanations by Rich are awesome!! He makes the math look so easy. Honestly, I would attribute the quant improvement from Q32 to Q46 to his course and his style of teaching. Thank you for that!!)
3. OG 2016 (Completed all the PS & DS questions in the OG twice. Finished SC, CR and RC once)
4. E-GMAT (Completed the E-GMAT SC course once last year. I did see some improvement in SC, But not what some other people have experienced. I am still at a 60% accuracy. Re-enrolled in E-GMAT SC course to go over the course again before the next attempt)
5. Power score CR Bible (I just bought it after the test yesterday. I plan to finish this in next 50 days)

50 days is plenty of time to improve 60 points given that you study dilligently and make a plan. You can still pick up 20-30 points in Quant but the rest must come from verbal. Looks like your strenght is RC in verbal, focus on SC which is the easiest section to improve quickly and pick up another 10-20 points in CR. Very doable.
Good luck. i suggest you dilligently study SC and CR. For quant get gmatclub tests and practice 40-50 questions a day. Also speak to Abhimahana, i hear he's pretty good in quant.

Thank you jkolachi. I still have not completed the additional Quant OG review book, which has about 300 questions. Would you recommend GMAT club tests over that?
