Answer D: 13 mango
We have:
(1) \(2A + 4or + 6M\)
(2) \(1A + 4or + 8M\)
(3) \( 8 or + 7M\)

Seeing (2), we want to combine it with (1) to remove the Apples and find a relationship between Oranges and Mango to replace in (3)

\(\\
(1) + (3) = 2 * (2)\\
2A + 12 or +13M = 2A + 8 or + 16M\\
4 or = 3M\\
\)

Replacing in (3) : \(6M + 7M = 13\)

A basket of 2 apples, 4 oranges and 6 mangoes costs the same as a basket of 1 apple, 4 oranges and 8 mangoes, or a basket of 8 oranges and 7 mangoes. Then the number of mangoes in a basket of mangoes that has the same cost as the other baskets is

A. 10
B. 11
C. 12
D. 13
E. 14

Let apples be denoted as A
Oranges as Or
Mango as M

2A + 4 Or + 6 M = 1 A + 4 Or + 8 M

we get, 1 A = 2M

substituting in the equation above, we get

4 Or + 10 M = 2A + 4 Or + 6 M = 1 A + 4 Or + 8 M = 8 Or + 7 M

4 Or + 10M = 8 Or + 7M

4 Or = 3 M

The question asked is : “ Then the number of mangoes in a basket of mangoes that has the same cost as the other baskets is“ -

Consider the initial equation

2A + 4 Or + 6 M = 2*(2M) + 3M + 6M = 13M

Option D

2A+4R+6M=1A+4R+8M
2A-A+4R-4R=8M-6M; A=2M .........(1)
Also, 2A+4R+6M=8R+7M; 2(2M)+6M-7M=8R-4R; 3M=4R.........(2)

2A+4R+6M= 2(2M)+3M+6M=13M
