A certain population of guinea pigs doubles every month. If there are 10 guinea pigs in the population today, how many additional guinea pigs will be added to the population in the next 6 months?
Today - 10
End of 1st month - 20
end of 2nd month - 40
end of 3rd month - 80
end of 4th month - 160
end of 5th month - 320
end of 6th month - 640
so the additional guinea pigs added = 640 -10 = 630

Responding to pm:
The population doubles every month so in the next 6 months, the population will go from 10 to 20 -> 40 -> 80 -> 160 -> 320 -> 640.
At the end of 6 months there will be 640 guinea pigs i.e. 630 additional pigs go added in 6 months.
You can use the GP concepts to say T6 = 10*2^6 (since every month it is multiplied by 2)
We get T6 = 640
So 630 additional pigs
