A clothing boutique bought a particular shirt for c dollars and sold the shirt for p dollars. If either c or p is equal to $100, then the boutique’s profit on the sale was what percentage of its cost?

(1) p/c = 6/5

(2) p − c = 20

profit = [p-c][/c]*100
=([p][/c]-1)*100

so we need [p][/c]

A. gives us [p][/c] so sufficient
B. insufficient since we are not sure about the value of C

is this approach correct Bunuel

Re: A clothing boutique bought a particular shirt for c dollars and sold t [#permalink]
Given: A clothing boutique bought a particular shirt for c dollars and sold the shirt for p dollars.
Asked: If either c or p is equal to $100, then the boutique’s profit on the sale was what percentage of its cost?

(1) p/c = 6/5
Profit % = (6-5)/5 = 1/5 = 20%
SUFFICIENT

(2) p − c = 20
If c = $100
p = $120
Profit % = 20%
But if p=$100
c = $80
Profit % = 20/80 = 1/4 = 25%
NOT SUFFICIENT
