I didn't know the general formula for counting the number of diagonals of an n sided polygon, so I just drew out an 8-sided polygon. From there I counted the diagonals of each vertex, being sure to not count those that have already been used by another vertex. I came up with 5+5+4+3+2+1 = 20 diagonals. This took me 1 minute 45 seconds, so not too shabby.
