Statement 1:
We know nothing about the speed and distance.
INSUFFICIENT.

Statement 2:
From this we can find the speed:
2/3x-1/2x = 1/6x = Distance travelled in 30 mins = 1/2 hr.
Speed = 1/6x / 1/2 = 1/3x.
At 3:50 2/3rd complete, so remaining = 1/3rd.
1/3x / 1/3 = 1hr more.
3:50 + 1hr = 4:50 he will arrive at East Terminal.
SUFFICIENT.

Statement (1)
The train departed at 1:50 p.m.
Departure time alone does not give travel duration.
Not sufficient.

Statement (2)
At 3:20 p.m.=>completed 1/2 of trip
At 3:50 p.m.=>completed 2/3 of trip
Remaining=1/3 of the trip
Distance covered in 30 minutes= 2/3 - 1/2 = 1/6 of trip

1/6 trip = 30 minutes
1/3 trip=60 mins =1 hr

Arrival time= 03:50 p.m+ 1hr =04:50p.m
Statement (2) alone is sufficient.

Question stem: Travel from NT to ST (distance be d between them) at constant speed (v), need to find time to cover, t=d/v

Statement 1: Tells nothing about d or v. Just mentions departing time. Not sufficient.
Statement 2: It tells that in 30 min distance covered was (2d/3-d/2). In 30 min it covers d/6 distance. So it will cover d in 180min or 3 hr. Sufficient.

B.
