Let the total quantity of soup be 80 liters

Each of the two bowls will have 40 liters

Manuel ate \(\frac{1}{4}*40 = 10\) liters from one bowl and \(\frac{2}{5}*40=16\) liters from the other

So, Manuel had a total of 26 liters out of the initial 80 liters

So, the fraction of the entire pot of soup that Manuel ate = \(\frac{26}{80} = \frac{13}{40}\)

Answer is (C)

A. 9/40
B. 11/40
C. 13/40
D. 17/40
E. 27/40

Fraction of the entire pot of soup Manuel ate \(= \frac{1}{2}*\frac{1}{4} + \frac{1}{2}*\frac{2}{5}\)
\(=\frac{13}{40}\)
