A 600-700 level question...
Total 32 pages..
First 4 pages cost 4$
Remaining 32-4=28, but every 11th page is free of cost so 11th and 22nd are free of cost
Hence pages charged =28-2=26
Total cost =4+26*0.50=4+13=17$

4+0.5(x-4) (we will take care of the 11th page bit later one)
4+0.5(32-4)
4+0.5(28)
4+14
=18

Now up to 32 pages there is two times 11th page, the 11th one and the 21st one. Each page (after 4) cost 0.5, so 2*0.5=1

18-1=17

Hi All,

We're told that a scriptwriter has a particular series of fees for a script (based on the length of the script). The scriptwriter charges....

1) $4 for every standard script, which is 4 pages or shorter in length
2) 50 cents for every additional page
3) NO CHARGE for every 11th page of the script

We're asked for the total amount that he will charge for a 32 page script. This question comes down to thoroughness and basic Arithmetic.

We know that the first 4 pages will cost $4 and there is NO CHARGE for the 11th and 22nd pages. That leaves 32 - 6 = 26 additional pages, which will cost $0.50 per page. That will be (26)($0.50) = $13 more dollars.

Total cost = $4 + $13 = $17

Since page 11 and page 22 are free, he will charge only for 30 of the 32 pages. For 4 of these 30 pages, he will charge a total of $4 and for the remaining 26 pages, he will charge $0.50 per page. Therefore, he will charge a total of 4 + 0.50 x 26 = 4 + 13 = $17 for the 32-page script.

Answer: C

Total of 32 pages out of which he doesn't charge anything for every 11th page

there will be 2 pages he would type it for free i.e 11 and 22 no. page

we left with 30 pages out of which for 1st 4 pages he will take his standard charge= 4 $

1st 4 pages= 4$

now, we left with 26 pages for which he will charge 50 cents for every pages

26*\(\frac{1}{2}\)= 13


Total amount= 13+4=17 $
