Let, cost price=100
CP is increased by x%,
New Price= 100(1+x%)
New price is then decreased by y%, Final Price= 100(1+x%)(1-y%)
At this he gains or loses nothing, so Final Price= CP
100(1+x%)(1-y%)=100
(1+x%)(1-y%)=1
Check with the options
x= 25 and y=20
(1+0.25)(1-0.2)=1
(1.25)(0.8)=1
1=1
LHS=RHS
Hence, x=25 and y=20
