A student has 24 questions remaining on an exam. If she has correctly answered 75% of the questions so far, and has to answer at least 75 percent of all the questions on the exam correctly, what is the maximum number of the remaining questions she can answer incorrectly?

(A) 4
(B) 6
(C) 12
(D) 18
(E) It cannot be determined from the information given.
Total questions remaining = 24
Also given she has answered 75% questions so far correctly, let x be total questions that she answered
so 3x/4 will be correct answers so far

Total questions on the exam (answered + not answered) = x + 24

She needs atleast 75% of the total questions to be right

let r be the right answers in the remaing questions

3x/4 + r >= 3/4(x+24)

3x/4 + r >= 3x/4 + 18
r >= 18
She needs to answer 18 correctly so maximum incorrect answers = 6

B is the answer

Here your equation is right, when you try to simplify further, RHS becomes as 75%x, which will further be cancelled. Now we can find y as 75%. Therefore answer will be C

ak2121
Should it be e?
Bec the equation i am able to form is
X= total questions
75%x= 75%(x-24)+ y%24
Y= the percentage of remaining ques she has to attempt correctly
