A supermarket purchased 60 identically priced tubes of toothpaste for a total of k dollars. If each tube of toothpaste was sold for 40% more than the price paid by the supermarket per tube, then at what price was each tube of toothpaste sold?

(1) The toothpaste was sold for a total of 48 dollars more than the supermarket paid for it.

(2) Each tube of toothpaste was sold for 80 cents more than it cost the supermarket.

Since both options were providing same information Choices would be either D or E.

Lets work.....

(1) price of each toothpaste @ supermarket = k/60
price of each toothpaste increased by 48/60=\$ 0.8 or 80 cents
thus k/60(1+40/100)= k/60 + 0.8
thus K can be calculated ..hence k+0.8
suff

(2) same info as in (1)
suff
