A survey of all the 100 employees in an organization revealed that 50% take tea and 50% take coffee. How many employees in the organization take neither tea nor coffee?

------------- Tea ------- No Tea ---- Total
Coffee ------ ------------ -------------- 50
No Coffee -- ------------ N ----------- 50
Total ------- 50 ---------- 50 -------- 100

We have to find N.

(1) None of employees take both tea and coffee.
--> Both Tea & coffee = 0

------------- Tea ------- No Tea ---- Total
Coffee ------ 0 ------------ 50 -------- 50
No Coffee -- 50 ------------ 0 -------- 50
Total ------- 50 ---------- 50 -------- 100

--> N = 0 --> Sufficient

(2) The survey included only those employees who take either tea or coffee.
--> the survey does not include anyone who does take neither or either of these drinks
--> Neither, N = 0 --> Sufficient

From the question, we know that all the 100 employees were surveyed. It means that there is no employee of the company who did not take part in the survey.
50% of those surveyed Take Tea means 50 employees take Tea, and 50% take coffee means 50 employees take coffee.
We are to determine the number of employees who take neither coffee nor tea.

Statement 1: None of the employees take both tea and coffee.
This is sufficient since we can clearly see that None=0, since Tea only + Coffee only + Both Tea & Coffee + None = total number of employees
So 50+50+0+None=100, hence None=0.

Statement 2: The survey included only those employees who take either tea or coffee.
Statement 2 is basically telling us that no one took part in the survey who does not take either tea or coffee. We know 100 employees took part in the survey. We also know from the preamble to the question that there are 100 employees in total who work for the company. Hence, we can conlcude that at least one person working in the company take either tea or coffee. Therefore None=0.
Statement 2 is sufficient.

The answer is D.

(1) None of employees take both tea and coffee.
If no one takes both tea and coffee then each of them have 50 takers, thus no one is there who neither takes tea nor coffee.

SUFFICIENT.

(2) The survey included only those employees who take either tea or coffee.
Again, tea takers = 50 and coffee takers = 50
Thus no one is there who neither takes tea nor coffee.

SUFFICIENT.

Total = 100
Tea = 50
Coffee = 50
—> 100= 50+ 50 —Both + Neither
Neither = Both
—> Neither =???

(Statement1): None of employees take both tea and coffee.
—> Both = 0 —> Neither = 0
Sufficient

(Statement2): The survey included only those employees who take either tea or coffee.
—>Neither = 0
Sufficient

The answer is D

1) Since, none of the employees take both tea and coffee, so 50 of them take tea and the remaining 50 take coffee. So, there is no single employee who doesn't take tea or coffee. sufficient.

2) This is the same statement as statement 1. so sufficient by itself.

D is the answer.

If all the 100 employee was surveyed n it was found that 50% drink tea and 50% drink coffee. Then how many drink neither tea or coffee.

Statement 1-

The statement 1gives us the info that there is no overlap between the two population.

Hence neither tea nor coffee is 0

Statement 2

States that out of 100 only people who drink either of the beverage have replied hence we cannot determine the count of neither tea nor coffee.

Insufficient
