5.5*3/2 + 3*3/4 = 33/4 + 9/4 = 42 /4 = 10.5 kgs. So A? M I missing something?

I tried solving it the way as shown however the answer doesn't come out to be correct, please can anyone point out where is it going wrong: 3((2/5.5) + (4/3)) = 56/11.

Thanks

Hi

We will have to get them to common ratio may be per 4 days and then convert to 3 days...
So wolf will it 5.5*2=11 kgs in 4 days...
Total in 4 days = 11+3=14...
So in 3 days= 14*3/4=10.5...

For answer to be B, wolf could be eating 4.5....
So 4.5*2=9..
Combined 9+3=12 in 4 days..
In three days 12*3/4=9..

Bunuel, you may want to check if it's typo

wolf eats 4.5kgs of meat in 2 days so it eats 4.5/2 kgs of meat in single day. i.e- 2.25kgs/day
tiger eats 3 kgs of meat in 4 days so it eats 3/4 kgs of meat in single day i.e- 0.75kg/day
so together they eat 3kgs/day, therefore they will eat 9kgs (3kgs * 3 days) in 3 days
so ans is B.
Kudos if u have understood :)

Wolf rate = 4.5/2 = 2.25 kg/day

tiger rate = 3/4 =0.75 kg/day

combined = 3 kg/day

total meat consumed in 3 days = work = rate & days = 3 *3= 9 kg

If anyone interested in playing with numbers / a weird shortcut method then this one's for them...

The wolf eats 4.5 Kg of meat in 2 days.

Or, The wolf eats 27 Kg of meat in 12 days

The baby tiger eats 3 Kg of meat in 4 days.

Or, The baby tiger eats 9 Kg of meat in 12 days

So, A baby tiger and The wolf eats 36 Kg in 12 days

Or, A baby tiger and The wolf eats 9 Kg in 3 days

Hence, Correct answer will be (B)....

PS : What did I do ?

Made the no of days equal to 12 and divided by 4 for quick calculation....

The total number of kilograms of meat the wolf and tiger eat per day is:

4.5/2 + 3/4 = 9/4 + 3/4 = 12/4 = 3

So in 3 days they can eat 3 x 3 = 9 kg of meat.

Answer: B
