My answer is (B) - Index finger.
One complete round is 8. Starting from 9, 17, etc. the same pattern repeats.
So 1994 / 8 = 249 with 2 as remainder. 2 means index finger.
BTW: To be grammatically correct, delete "The" in the options b, c, d, and e.

Explanation:
The thumb series is 1,9,17,25,33...
Therefore 8n+1=1994
8n=1993
remainder=1
Therefore thumb for 1993 and the next one is index.
The answer is the index finger.
