Thanks for the reply. I am currently a software dev. with 4 yrs exp. in India and I am more concerned about the long term investment as in I want to grow faster to a VP, or CXO role some years after MBA. So if I have to choose between a US B-school and India's IIMA/ PGPX, which will be a better choice? Also what are the ways to finance the huge fees of US colleges. I have researched and found that the top US colleges only provide 30% scholarships at max. Also, I want to know about my profile - BIT Mesra IT 2013 passout, 4yrs. work exp as frontend
developer - is that good enough for a US -school?
I want to grow faster- MBA is one of the route. A top league school in that geography will go long way in realizing your career goals.
US B-school and India's IIMA/ PGPX- Depends where you want to work post MBA. Getting a MBA from HBS and then moving back to India is not a good RoI. Similarly chances of getting international job aren't quite high with IIM's/ISB. It is always recommended to first choose geography and then schools. If India IIM A,B 1 Yr and ISB are your best bet. But I do not think you qualify for IIM B given less than 5 yr experience.
What are the ways to finance the huge fees of US colleges- Not at all a problem. You can easily get tuition loan both in the US and in India if you can make into Top 20 US Schools.
I want to know about my profile- That info is not enough. It depends on what are the leadership roles you had taken at your work, do you manage a team, any major social involvement, post MBA goals and how do you present your profile(essays, LoR, Resume). But based on this limited info I can tell you to not have high hopes on scholarships in top 15. Your profile isn't spectacular. For schools ranked 16-25 it depends on the factors mentioned above and your GMAT score. You need around 750+ to get 30% or higher scholarship. Beyond rank 25 I don't recommend. The value of MBA diminishes very significantly post 25.Also risk are high for internationals and more so with current political environment in the US.
You may want to discuss with a consultant to get a detail feedback on your profile. Usually most of them give 15 min free consultation so it wont cost you anything. Additionally you will have a better clarity on your target schools and hence forth your target GMAT score.
