Hi! Thanks for sharing your story. You have a really difficult life-choice decision to take.
I would say it depends on whether you would be able to increase your GMAT in less than 6 months and improve you profile (you may consider using consulting services).
There are some other questions I would like to ask you
1) How many times did you take the gmat and how much did you prepare for the test? Do you know your weaknesses?
2) Do you believe you are capable of getting 720+ in less than 6 months? (I assume you will apply in R1 or R2).
3) Do you think you will be very competitive candidate for top 10 if you get a 720+ on the gmat?
4) what is your age? The older you are the more difficult it would be to get into IBD. So staying for one more year may be an issue.
5) do you want to work only for very top/prestigious IBanks? (bulge brackets)
6) Do you think that after graduating from let say Cornell and the GMAT 720+ you will be competitve applicant to bulge bracket banks?
7) how bad is current economic situation in your country? woub you be able to stay there for a year?

worst case scenario is that you will retake the test, but not attain a 700+ score and reapply again to GT next year however I would say that after rejecting their offer once they may not accept you next year. Then you will apply to other even lower ranked schools from which you would not have a shot to get into IB.
Ultimately it depends on how much you are risk averse person.

Thank you very much for your answer!!

1 I took the GMAT 2 times... both 640
2 I think i can get close to a 700 with a better study plan
3 I think my profile is pretty competitive with a GMAT at 700 or above. I have been the CFO of my family business for the past 2 years, a company with annual revenues of $10mm. besides my professional experience i have worked with Youth for Human Rights in Venezuela since 2011
4 i am 25, i think my age its perfect to go into investment banking
5 Would like to work for an important investment bank or consulting firm. I do not know witch one i will have a better chance after Georgetown
6 Is my background going to affect my chances of working for a important investment bank???
7 The situation in Venezuela is not the best and is more of a personal and security reason that i am leaving the country.

My only worry is many doors can my MBA at Georgetown can open for me in the United States.

Thank you very much

If your goal is IB then you absolutely should accept the gtown offer. I'm not sure where the poster above got his "facts" but gtown places into all the major players, with the majority of placements in NYC (~90%).

Just posted this in a separate thread, seems relevant to you..

Former gmatclub user, wanted to post an interesting MBA ranking done by Linkedin (cited by P&Q). I've come on this board in the past to chime in on MSB success in the IB world. While this ranking (like all) must be taken with a grain of salt, great to see Georgetown MBA ranked #3 in Investment Bankings and top 15 in overall Finance placement. Thought many of you would be interested in the results assuming you haven't stumbled upon this yet.

Thank you very much for your answer! that ranking is very helpful. What i have read is that even if not all the big companies come to recruit to the school, leveraging the school network can help you find almost any interview.

Do any body have any idea on how hard would it be to land a job in the top 5 consulting firms??

Thank you again guys this is very helpful.
