For a quicker approach, we can first double 79, 79*2=158, which is 100 percent increase from 79.
that will boil down the answer choices to D or E.
Its clearly 125 percent as we see 158+1/4*79= ~182.

I used this way of solving :
When they say 181 is what percent greater than 79, we could do the following
181 = 79 + x% of 79
181 = 79 (1+x/100)
Rounding off we get 180 = 80 (1+x/100);
This works out to x = 120; Hence Close to Option D
