Hello all. My goal during the MBA application process was to pursue a dual MA/MBA degree, with the MA focused on international development from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). I was fortunate enough to be admitted into both Haas and SAIS. While a few schools explicitly announce their partnership with SAIS on a dual degree (e.g. Stanford; Tuck; Wharton), Haas does not. I've had an email exchange with admissions on the topic, but I got the impression they were simply reading off the list of what is "publicly" available - and thus let me know that the MA/MBA isn't something they offer. SAIS allows an ad hoc dual degree (you basically petition the admissions department for permission to pursue the degree, even though it is not openly marketed) with anyone in the top 25, so that shouldn't be an issue given Haas's standing. My question is, has anyone here - or is anyone aware of someone who has - successfully petitioned with Haas for an ad hoc dual degree, with SAIS or any other program?
As some background, my goal is to get into economic development following graduation. I think that Haas's social impact pathway, and all the resources the program has to offer, dovetails very well with the more academic and research-based focus of SAIS's international development program (emphasis on economics of education, link between health and socioeconomic standing, etc.)
Thank you for any help you can offer!
