Any success in getting this up? This would be a real good resource for the applicants, for putting things into perspective.

Right now the access is only limited to those with 400+ posts (you have to PM me and clear the "background check" ) or the moderators.
There have been several contributors this spring (thank you very much for submitting your essays).

I am open for a new model but obviously this is pretty sensitive taking into consideration this can be easily mis-used.
Welcome suggestions for access model.

Hi bb ,
The 400+ posts is not a robust gating mechanism either. It is very difficult to judge whether or not a person will mis-use the information in the vault based on their activity level or their GMAT score or any other such statistic related to that person.

A few things we can do -
1. Change all the names/personal info in the essays.
2. Get personal info of the people accessing it-such as real names, cell nos, to create some sort of accountability.
3. Charge a nominal fee for access - if the essay writers are okay with it .

Btw, what kind of mis-use are you referring to? Privacy of the people who wrote the essays, or re-use of content from the essays?

It is definitely not illegal, I found a book that has essays from accepted harvard applicants on Amazon, would post link but not able to yet apparently.

Well first of all with extremely unique backgrounds would feel a little awkward to submit their essays . Its not exactly rocket science to figure out a second year with a uniqe background, say, at tuck or Yale SOM.

But nevertheless, its an awesome initiative but by the time a person crosses 400 posts , he would probably be at bschool / waiting for the interview. Point lost.
