Hi All,
This is to all the experts and to other fellow test takers who have scored over 700. My GMAT preparations are underway and it's been a month. I am using MANHATTAN quant guides powerscore CR and Manhattan RC and SC guides. While doing the Manhattan guides I am also working on their recommended
OG sets (mid/final quizzes, not the hard ones now) simultaneously. I worked on the advanced sections for one of the quant guides but not doing so for others as of now since once I complete all the guides along with a major portion of
OG and gauge my performance via a mock CAT (
MGMAT) and if I feel I am scoring in the mid forties in quant (preferably above 45) and 35-40 in verbal only then I would feel I have a grasp of the general concepts and then I can decide to do the advanced section. Now kindly advice if this is fine. Also are the advanced sections really mandatory to score high in both sections I.e. Are they really frequently tested? Also I am planning to finish the guides/
OG and the supplementary
OG guides as well and then move on to the
gmatclub tests and continue with the MANHATTAN mock CATs simultaneously. Kindly provide your feedback on this as well.
Hi kreel11,
This sounds like a good plan. If you are hard pressed on time, you can skip the advanced section and still score above 700 on the GMAT.
The only addition we would suggest is to incorporate GMAT prep Mock CATs in your preparation from time to time.
You can download 2 free tests and buy 4 additional from mba.com. You can also buy the Question pack 1 to enhance your official question bank.
The official questions are the best way to score higher on the GMAT as they are the ones that have already appeared on the GMAT. Make sure you solve all the official questions and understand them to an extent that you can explain the solutions to someone.
Maintaining an
error log is also a great addition to your preparation. It will help you to keep a not of all the problems you have got wrong, so that you can learn lessons from them and do not repeat the same mistake again.
1. Have you appeared for a mock CAT?
2. When do you plan to take the GMAT?
