E. Along a 15 mile stretch of desert, a dozen warehouses sit silent and empty, relics of city's dream of becoming a national warehouse hub

in this question, its easy to eliminate B, C and E. b B the use of future tense 'will' is wrong. C changes the sentence meaning in such a way that the dream is along a 15 mile stretch of desert. Also the word 'becoming' is not clear. D is out because of the change in meaning which means that the dreams are along 15mile stretch. The confusion is between A and E. In E it seems that relics is modifying empty, we need relics to modify the entire phrase ' a dozen...empty' so I think A is correct.

Between A and E: Relics refers to the act of dozen warehouses sitting silent and empty. There fore the usage in A is correct in which relics modifies a dozen warehouses sit silent and empty
