Issues with the question - Improper parallel structure.

Only Option C corrects this mistake and maintains parallelism.
The hurt locker
1. released in 2009
2. brought her the greatest accolades

Correct idiomatic expression - for both X and Y

C.

As the contrast is between the number of films and work KB did but the movie that eventually brought her accolades is the eight movie she did Hurt locker.
D & E distort this intended meaning.
A is wordy and "in that" is an awkward sentence structure.
B distorts parallelism by using "directed" and "bringing".. both should be simple past.

P.S. - released in 2009 is a verb-ed modifier.

her eighth feature film - This phrase is in a dire need of verb also [before we start question], underline part is after comma. BDE can be easily eliminated. Problem is A and C. and both are grammatically correct.

I rather select C cause it removed all unnecessary words such as "in that". moreover C has used modifier in best way. A is very awkward with all that jargon.

E )was released in 2009, winning the Academy Awards for both Best Director and Best Picture, and bringing her the greatest accolades

Parallelism is maintained between winning and bringing.
Someone, please help me in understanding why it's wrong.

Given statement is wordy and non parallel , there is no need to place 'that' also. Option C corrects all these issues
