The above sentence is similar to "Although some doctors believe that the drug can have positive effects when [it is] taken sporadically, most agree that the medicine is effective only if it is administered in a single, concentrated dose.
So, A is the correct answer because it retains that parallelism.

Choice (C) offers the conditional verb, would only be administered, inside an if-clause. That's incorrect, so eliminate (C).
Choice (D) repeats the same mistake, so eliminate that too.
Choice (E) says in a dose concenterated singly, which is incorrect usage, eliminate (E). The correct answer is (A).
