Hi All,

I attempted GMAT for the third time yesterday and again only managed a dismal score for myself. However, this time I was much more confident as my mock scores also have been ranging from 670 to 710 (Gave 8 of those).

However, after seeing a score of 620 (q44,v32) I was devastated. Primarily because I have been consistently scoring q49 my Mocks and seeing a drop of 5 points was shocking!

I have decided to give GMAT one final shot by preparing and polishing my skills for 30 days, and seek suggestion on how should I approach, is there some crash course which I should enroll which will help me improve the score? Another challenge which I see is that I have exhausted almost all the questions and all the official and good questions which I'm going to see in front of me would basically be a reattempt, any suggestions on how to tackle this scenario.
Having already spent a lot of money trying various courses, tutors and material I need to be absolutely sure before I buy any product or services this time and hence seek advise of this helpful community

Many thanks In Advance for your help.

My Mock Scores are as followed :

Test # Source Date Test Quant Verbal IR Score Overall Score
1 GMATPrep 31-Jul-20 Test-1 49 32 6 670
2 MGMAT 10-Aug-20 Test-1 44 32 4 630
3 GMATPrep 17-Aug-20 Test-2 49 36 3 710
4 GMATPrep 22-Aug-20 Test-5 43 34 4 630
5 GMATPrep 28-Aug-20 Test-6 48 32 4 660
6 Veritas 12-Sep-20 Test-1 47 30 4 630
7 GMATPrep 19-Sep-20 Test-3 49 34 5 680
8 GMATPrep 3-Oct-20 Test-4 50 30 4 660

Hi adiforuaditya,

Sorry about how things went with your GMAT. I can definitely help you in analyzing your ESR and help you improve your score. But instead of doing it here, I think a better way to do that is to discuss it over a zoom conference call. hat way I can show you where exactly you're going wrong and what are the areas you should be focusing to improve your score. As you are planning to give a the test in 30 days, it is very important that you have a proper study plan which helps you focus on the right parameters. I can help you in making a proper study plan as well. I'm sharing a link below using which you can schedule a free consultation call with me. Looking forward to helping you achieve your dream GMAT score.

Going through all the options but as you rightly said in your post, there are so many options available also I have already tried a few, which were among the best rated here but somehow did not suit me well or did not help me improve and hence I figured out reviews might not be the best indicator. Also trying to understand which course will be best for my case and hence reached out to this community. Will love to understand how TTP can help me , I have seen TTP is one of the best out their for Quant but as I need more improvement in Verbal, I'm looking for a course which can help me more on Verbal.

Wow adiforuaditya, you joined this forum 8 years back! It's been a long journey.

Best way would be to attend a couple of trial classes and then decide which one suits you best. The competence of the instructor and your comfort level in the class, should obviously be the most important yardsticks in your selection.

True, it indeed has been a long journey. However I have only been devoting some dedicated time and efforts for past year or so and I'm already feeling exhausted.
I have tried the demo and trial classes, however the challenge I'm facing are a) There are so many providers out there and all of them have a similar review.

b) In most of the free classes the content shared is pretty basic , which is not at all a problem.

Would appreciate, if you could throw some light on this and help me take an informed decision.

I am afraid I would have to slightly disagree with you on this Aditya. Your current Verbal scores (for example, a 54th percentile on SC) show that there might be glaring gaps in your fundamentals as well.

There really are no shortcuts to building fundamentals (and doing more and more questions definitely doesn't solve the problem either).

Hi Thanks for highlighting this, however this came in as a shock to me as well , as my accuracy on SC was around 75 percent on a medium to high question.
Anyways, what would you suggest if I want to reappear in 6 to 8 weeks time and target around 720?

Practice topic wise from Gmat club. Google for topic wise ps and ds gnat club you will get a link where topics are arranged difficulty wise. Sort them by kudos and solve 70% questions where OG is the source.I had similar scores and see them improving after doing that. Practice one topic for 2 days or so and move on. Focus more on 500-600 level n few questions from 700 since gmat will fine u kore heavily for easy wrong answers than difficult ones. For sc, gmatninja videos are helpful.

Hi adiforuaditya,

Your overall Scores have improved over time, but the 'swings' in your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores imply that you are 'winging it' with each question that you face. In simple terms, you don't have a consistent set of Tactics with which you approach questions, so you just try to do what you think is best on a case-by-case basis. This greatly increases your chances of making little mistakes (and potentially 'lucky' guesses in Verbal and in DS, which can distort what your actual 'ability level' is during your CATs). In addition, when these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day.

Statistically-speaking, raising a 620 to the point that you can consistently score 720+ will likely require at least another 2 months of consistent, guided study - and you'll have to make significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections. Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level.

Before we discuss the data in your ESR, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying over time and your goals:

1) How long have you studied in total? Were there any points at which you took some 'time off' from your studies?
2) What study materials have you used over the course of ALL of your studies? What 'brands' of CATs have you used?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi Rich,

Thanks for your revert.

What I feel after analyzing my ESR is rather than lucky guess, I have been probably skipping some important concepts or haven't been diving deep in those which when appeared in any questions have been causing me issues.

Below is the answer to the questions you have asked:

1) How long have you studied in total? Were there any points at which you took some 'time off' from your studies? => April 2019 to Oct 2019, March 2020 to Oct 2020
2) What study materials have you used over the course of ALL of your studies? What 'brands' of CATs have you used? => Used E-Gmat in the first attempt, for the most recent attempt joined an online classes and private tutoring . Also used aristotle for SC. CAT Used were all 6 Official GMAT, Manhattan & Veritas
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to? => Planning to apply for 2022 session, Schools I'm targeting are INSEAD, HEC Paris,MIT Sloan and similar.

Thanks for your inputs in advance.

Thanks A Lot.

But feel like giving up many times, I guess lacking a proper direction and guidance.
