Took the GMAT today and got a 650 (45 q, 33 v). The weird thing is I took the test 4 years ago and got a 42 q 40 (670). Now I know schools do not take the best from each section, but is it good that I went up in quant on the second try? I am applying to top 15 schools and I know that this score is low. I think I can do better, but I will have to apply round 2 for most schools. I used a private tutor which helped some, but I really want to crank it to the next level. I need to bump up both sections, or at least be more consistent overall. Do you guys think private tutoring is worth it? (I can afford the $$) I really want to get into the 700s. Is Manhattan the best big provider? I probably have 1-2 months to take this.

Yeah MGMAT is pretty good. Given that you already scored Q45 4 years ago you prob are just rusty so some tutoring can help you get 700. If you can maintain your current verbal score you just need slight improvement which is very very doable in 30 days.

After scoring your original 680, did you ever end up applying to Business School? I ask because any prior application attempts could help you to better plan out your upcoming approach to the Round 2 applications. In addition, it's not clear whether additional tutoring is something that you "need" or not, so it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:
Studies:
1) How long have you studied for this recent attempt at the GMAT?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) How have you scored on each of your recent CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for each)?
Goals:
4) What is your goal score?
5) When are you planning to retake the GMAT?
6) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
